Noodles with Soybean Sauce 炸酱面

Zhajiangmian, also known as noodles with Soybean Sauce, has always been one of the comfort foods in my family and I believe this also applies to many other Chinese families. The visual essence and smell of this dish contributed to its popularity in China, but most importantly it is tasty. The making of Zhajiangmian is not difficult at all, which makes it a common cuisine in most Chinese communities, especially in the northern part of China. Today we are going to explore how to make Zhajiangmian easily and effortlessly at home.


Ingredients
  • 250g of noodles

  • 300g of pork belly

  • 15g of green onion

  • 15g of garlic

  • 3 teaspoons of soybean paste

  • 1 teaspoon of sweet soybean paste (甜面酱)

  • 1 teaspoon of sugar

  • 1 cucumber

  • 1 carrot

  • 1 teaspoon of oil


Cooking Instructions
  1. Prepare 300g of pork belly by chopping it into small pieces

  2. Slice the cucumber and carrot

  3. Prepare minced garlic and green onion

  4. Preheat the pot and pour into it 1 teaspoon olive oil

  5. Put minced garlic and green onion into the pot and stir for 1 minute

  6. Put diced pork belly into the pot and stir for approximately 5 mins

  7. Add 3 teaspoons of soybean paste, 1 teaspoon of sweet soybean paste, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and half bowl of water in the pot, stir them for 1 min

  8. Leave the pot on a low flame for 30 mins

  9. While waiting for the sauce, cook the noodles and vegetables and settle them into the bowl

  10. Pour the finished sauce over noodles and vegetables, Done!
