Christine Ristaino (Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) is a Senior Lecturer at Emory University, where she teaches Italian literature, culture, and language classes. She has developed a creative writing-focused class on Italian memoir, as well as an on-line course with Dr. Hong Li that compares Italy and China through the medium of food (noodles in particular). Ristaino is an award-winning Atlanta author whose memoir, All the Silent Spaces, confronts the topics of violence, identity, and discrimination. Her research interests are in the area of language pedagogy, Italian memoir, food-studies, the Reggio-Emilia Approach to Education, and Italian women writers.

Hong Li (Ph.D., University of Minnesota Twin Cities) is a Professor of Pedagogy in the Department of Russian and East Asian Languages and Cultures at Emory University and the Director of the Emory College Language Center. She teaches Chinese language courses at all levels, Classical Chinese, as well as courses on Chinese culture and Chinese linguistics. Her research interests lie in the area of Chinese language pedagogy and Chinese syntax. Her most recent book was entitled Fun with Chinese Grammar: 35 Humorous Dialogues and Comics. Her work has appeared in journals such as the Journal of the Chinese Language Teachers Association and in various edited volumes.
